Privacy Policy

This site serves to publish research on PRISM audio technology and methodology within an academic context. Academic culture strongly supports privacy, and that’s reflected here. We comply with EU and UK and GDPR, and CPRA for California (USA). Our policy is simple, and written by an actual human.

Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information for you to browse the website, and receive updates if you wish.

  • If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address. We use Mail Poet.
  • There are temporary cookies related to the function of the website's functionality and layout engine. For example, if you activate Dark Mode while you're on one page, it will be active everywhere for you.
  • The only thing we store is whether or not you have read the message about our cookie policy. Otherwise, you'd be asked about it every time. Cookie inception.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information exactly for what we say it will be.

  • Acknowledging our cookie message ensures you don't get asked again.
  • If you subscribed to email updates, we use the email address you provided to send you updates.

How We Protect You Here

In the grand academic tradition, we respect both your privacy and bullet points.

  • Our demonstration videos are served from Vimeo, not YouTube.
  • We use Mail Poet, end-to-end, for the newsletter. They securely store our email addresses, and also send the newsletters (fully-encrypted).
  • We use Cloudflare's anti-spam tech instead of Google's more invasive ones.
  • We host on Kinsta, one of  the industry's most secure and stable platforms.
  • As you may have gathered, this isn't Wix.

How We Protect You from Third Parties

Third-party web apps raise potential privacy issues. Here's what we do.

Mail Poet: We use them for handling our newsletter, because it's the most secure way to handle your email address (if you subscribed to updates). According to Mail Poet's policy, the only thing they collect from you is the email address. No cookies. This is the information they potentially collect. We have disabled their Engagement Stats Tracking feature, and we're not running a WooCommerce site. You know, until demand for PRISM swag blows up.

Vimeo: According to their policy, the only cookies they collect through us are actually useful: to remember your player settings, and prevents bots. Their embedded player can potentially serve these cookies. However, we have a paid account, and block the analytics ID from being collected. And we're not selling webinars.

YouTube: They love to collect personal data.  However, they also want to exist in Europe, so they need to provide a way around that. We use it.

Your Rights

You have the right to view, change or remove your personal data here (i.e., name and email address) at any time. Unsubscribing to our updates deletes your information from Mail Poet's (and our) system.
